| 2008-08-02 23:39 Allan | Relay Boards: Really new and really lost I am setting up a DYI CNC machine. I have settled on the C11 relay board. This is from a recommendation from a friend who works in the electronic field.I am going to use 396oz. 3.0A 6.8mh stepper motors. Is there any other hardware I will need to use in the setup? Will the USB cable supply a constant 2amps to the board? Will there be a instructions showing the wiring setup for the stepper motors? As the motors I have a Phase A and Phase B. As I am lost at the electronic level, but am good at Cadsoftware, following instructions and Plans. Thanks Al | Answer |
| 2008-08-04 01:19 Feng | MPG3 - Pendant: Hi, I bought the MPG3 with the C 22 card. I've connect the DB25 that to my first parallel port, found it's address, put that address into Mach 3(0x378), downloaded the brain for lpt and inserted in into the Mach3 registry, hooked the C 22 into the parallel port, and attached the usb connection into the computer from the C 22 card, I use MPG menu and the "axis x,y,z,4","x1","x10","x100" and "enable buttom" which can work, but when I rotate hand wheel, nothing happened. Do you have any ideas for me? | Answer |
| 2008-08-12 23:10 Brian K | MPG2 - Pendant: Hi, We installed the interface card on PP#2 with a MPG2 pendent and pendent does not respond correctly. We installed brains given on your website and view them. We can see the boxes changing from red to green on the view brain screen. On MAch3 when we hit TAB key only one yellow light comes on, seems to be the jog button. On diagnostics page we can see all the green led lights when we select x,y,z,1,10 and 100 so imuts seem to work. We tried another scree called calibrate MPG and the numbers also responded on that. But when we try to use the MPG on Mach no response. | Answer |
| 2008-09-02 20:26 Tod | C3 - Index Pulse Card: I am using the campbell combo card and have always had fluctuating dro up to 1000 rpm. I dumped the other index sensor and installed yours. Same thing fluctuation. I think his combo card is not passing the signal correctly. I wanted to make sure this card was optically protected. Instead of sending the signal to the combo board I will send it direct to the pc. Thanks Tod | Answer |
| 2008-09-14 04:02 Reynaldo Carson | C6 - Variable Speed Control Board: Hi, I have a 4 axis mini mill. I am using the surplus center item # 11-2449 motor controller board. I have a C6 board and a C10 board. pins 2-9 are populated and set to output, the jumper is set to ground. Pin 1 is step and pin 14 is dir. for the C6 with the groung between 1 and 14 to the ground between step and dir on the C6. I get a steady 8.41 volts on my analog out puts. The on board pot changes nothing. When connected to the motor board the voltage drops to 5 volts. The C6 is set for opti isolation. My board has an extra 24 volt input next to the ground and 12 volt input, this is not present on you current scematic please advise. I am using P3 for ground and p2 for positive. The motor will not turn. But everything works fine when I use a 5k pot. I am running Mach 3. | Answer |

| 2008-11-30 08:37 Roy Stratford | C11 - Multifunction CNC Board: Hi I am using the C11 Breakout board. I Have been using the AC relay on pin 1 to control my spraymist coolant system. Yesterday the relay activated for no apparant reason and now there is continuity across the terminals weather the relay is on or off. The relay itself still seems fine as it works ok on the DC pin 1. But the AC terminals are always 'live'. Is there somthing else on the board that could be causing this problem? Thanks, Roy | Answer |

| 2009-02-01 19:07 Willy | C11 - Multifunction CNC Board: Hi I purchased one of your C11 BOBs last year from a mate that didn't require it, anyway I don't quite understand all this electricky stuff I am aware that the board needs to be powered on 12v volts 5v on one side and the computer on the other, I was thinking about using a spare computer power supply that I have to run power for 12v/5v side of the board will that be fine. The think I guess I don't understand is the amps side of things the computer power supply can put out on the 5v min .2a and max 50a the 12v is Min .2a Max 20a Does the Cll BOB only pull the required amps it needs? Sorry I hope I haven't confused you I just don't want to let that that magic smoke out when I power it up :-). Thanks in advance Willy | Answer |
| 2009-02-21 21:55 Cameron | C11 - Multifunction CNC Board: Hi, I am having a problem with my C11. I just bought it and am setting it up with Mach 3. I am using the jog commands to test my motors. When I jog the x in Mach 3 the Z motor moves. Y always moves ccw. I checked the settings for pin outs in mach 3. They are x -2,3 y -4,5 and z -6,7. Even if I change the pin assignments it has no effect on the pin that actually turns on. Any ideas? | Answer |

| 2009-03-06 16:11 Calum MacLeod | C19 - A/C Frequency Converter: I have a C19 Frequency Converter that I wont to use with a 230V 50Hz 1800watt router connected to Mach3. I have tested the C19 with a pot connected to the analogue input and a signal generator connected to the pulse input for both frequency and PWM, these all seem to work fine but the minimum speed seems to be around 60-70% full speed not 30% as advertised, is there a resistor on the board that can be changed to set this? I noted that if the pot was left connected when using one of the other control methods the pot would also control the speed, is this expected? When I connect the C19 to Mach3 and set this up as per the instructions for PWM there seems to be no or very little speed control. I can make it work a little better with frequency control when Mach3 is setup as per the C6 instructions. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. | Answer |
| 2009-03-09 09:12 Steve Kidder | C11G - Multifunction CNC Board (for Geckos): I am unsure abot which COM terminals go with which OUTPUT PINS. The board is numbered 1,com,2,com,3,com,4,5,com,6,7,com,etc. does pin 1 go with com 1?if so what is com for pin 4? Thanks, Steve | Answer |
| 2009-03-11 18:26 Gary Corlew | C11G - Multifunction CNC Board (for Geckos): Hi Arturo, I bought a c11g from you in the beginning of December, I am just now getting to hooking it up. The first thing I noticed was when I took it out of the bubble wrap it did not have the jumper for setting the +5 or ground, I wasn't concerned with that because I knew I could pull +5 from the board for my gecko 320's. But I have other problems with it and things that seem strange compared the other c11 I have from you that is about two or three years old. First I plugged in the parallel cable the charge pump light started blinking and the outputs(pins 1-9) were also blinking, I have never seen that happen to my older card. I then plugged in the power supplies to it(5 & 12 volt) and the blinking stopped, I also plugged in my separate supply(12 volt) for the analog output. I set up everything as it says to in the manual so I could get my analog output working I put in s3000m3 in mdi(mach3) and tested the output and there was no voltage. I ended up trying different pins and it is now putting out some voltage with it set at pin 9 although very little , I turned the pot both ways the max I could get out of it was 2.53 volts. I then upped the pulse width to 5 with very little change I think it went up to about 2.55, I have upped it to 9 and the most I could get out of it was 2.58 volts needless to say it is not enough to run my VFD. I tried everything I could possibly think of to get it working. I then tried my other board(c11 multifunction) and I was able to make it work putting out 8 volts. I am out of ideas to try do you have any? or should I send it back for you to look at? | Answer |

| 2009-06-03 01:26 daniel | C1G - Parallel Port Interface Card (for Geckos): home switches and limit switches. I will be using mach3 software and know that the limit switches can all be as one connected together as mach3 does not care what switch is hit the single is to stop. but on home switches i need to find out how to connect more then one. with the c1g board it has 5 imputs so i would assume that the way i will be connecting would be port 10 used for e-stop, port 11 used for limit and 12,13 & 15 will be used for home switches. does this sound rught? | Answer |
| 2009-06-06 05:36 Ross Batten | C11G - Multifunction CNC Board (for Geckos): I am having troubles with my limit switches. Could you please help me? I haven't had any trouble with them until now that I have hooked up my spindle, so I am sure the problem is noise from the VFD or spindle. My limit switches are sheilded cable, with the sheild going to ground at one end. I am running limits in series and home in series, so when 1 of the switches is broken, it goes active low. So now when I run my table, now that I have the router running, I get random messages telling me that a limit switch has been activated when none of the switches are being activated. How could I try to fix this? Cheers rosco | Answer |

| 2009-10-13 10:17 Matt Markley | C1 - Parallel Port Interface Card: Greetings, I think this question is more about the C16 Photo Limit Switch rather than the C1 BB. Although it’s connected to the C1. I’m running a Taig CNC conversion through a Xylotex with the C1 BB and I’m trying to setup the C16. I’m running your A9 E-Stop (NC) with no problems. (Running Mach3) Here’s my question(s): I have the C16 powered through the C1. Should the board on the C16 be hot to the touch? Mach 3 won’t recognize (trip) any of the sensors of the C16 when I touch them together. I played with virtually all pin settings and norm high/low. Have I done something wrong with the Limit Override connection? No matter how I set it up, the E-Stop always works. But nothing with the C16. Sorry, I’m a bit of a newbie and the wiring diagrams seem straight-forward but I’m beginning to tear my hair out. Thanks, Matt | Answer |
| 2009-11-07 18:12 David Primrose | C10 - Bidirectional Breakout Board: I have purchased a 3 axis kit from keling which included a C10 breakout board. I am using Mach 3 for my software. My question is when I connect my parallel port cable from my PC to the C10 breakout board the power light on the board and the power light on the 5 volt power supply will light up. I should mention this is when the power to the control panel is off, and that when the power is on, the motors work correctly. Does anyone know what might be causing this. | Answer |

| 2010-01-11 13:11 Lee Barry | C1G - Parallel Port Interface Card (for Geckos): Hi. I'm trying to drive a Charge Pump board with pin 16 of a C1G board and I find that it works only when I put my scope probe on it. I'm guessing that this means that the output of the opto-isolator (the collector) is routed to the terminal for pin 16 of the C1G without any pullup resistor, which I need to supply. Is this right? Exactly what does the circuit look like between the opto-isolator chip and the output pin?. Thanks. | Answer |

| 2010-01-12 11:34 Lee Barry | C1G - Parallel Port Interface Card (for Geckos): Arturo, Didn't know if you were seeing my email responses to your question about the revision level of the C1G board in question so I pasted them in here. Read from bottom to top to get the whole thread. ---------------------------------------- I did a little more probing of the circuit. It appears that the collector of the output transistor on the opto-isolator is at +5 Volts, and that the emitter is routed to pin 16 somehow. I don't know if a series resistor or a resistor to ground is involved. Is it possible to get a schematic of this board and the charge pump board? At least from the I/O pins to the IC pins? I suppose I could reverse engineer the board, but that would mean removing it from the system and a lot of time. I'm not really looking to steal your design - I just want to be able to make my system work. In this particular case, I just want to connect the C1G BOB to the safety charge pump board (C4). Since I bought both of them from you, perhaps you can tell me what I need to do to get them to talk to each other. I just connected pin 16 on the C1G breakout board to the pulse input pin on the C4 board. I also connected the adjacent COM pin on the C1G (jumpered to be at ground) to the GND input on the C4 board. As I said originally, it didn't work until I put a scope probe on it - an ungrounded scope probe. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, - Lee Barry Arturo, The board says it is Rev 3.1 Arturo E. Duncan wrote: > Lee, > > It depends on the revision of the board. | 2010-06-05 14:41 Andre | C6 - Variable Speed Control Board: Hi There I bought a C6 (and some) a while ago to connect to a Sieg like X2 (Rotwerk) controller. Using a small external PC-PSU to power the C6 (using 12v and also to power the stepper controller) and wiring as I could find on the web. I popped the controller. Ordered another FC350BJ from LMS and tried again. This time using the 12V from the FC350BJ. Popped the controller again. So Im a bit puzzled. I guess the first PSU was a Switchmode thing - perhaps not isolating the GND. Im not sure what you mean in the text when u say "one must use the power from the VFD or a separate source" My next try will be with either another FC or perhaps with a KBIC225 ctrlr. But as for a PSU: Will a separate PSU (consisting of a small transformer, bridge rectifier, smoothing caps and 12V regulator) work this time? Much appreciated Andre | Answer |

| 2010-07-22 21:38 John Mundy | MPG2 - Pendant: I installed and addressed my 2nd PP port. Updated all drivers. Downloaded the brains folders. I see all lights on the diagnostics screen. They vary by which axis is selected and which multiplier is selected. The power light on the MPG only works in the enable mode, with that brain enabled. If disable and enable are deselected I get no led on the MPG. Not sure if that means anything yet. I have copied all of the brains from your website, erased all existing brains, ran diagnostics with no brains, leds flickered with each change of a switch. Reloaded copied brains and retried still no joy. Updated to the latest Mach 3 lockdown .040 before doing anything. All of my machines still work from the keyboards just no actual change via the MPG. I did buy this unit from a Cnc zoner and upon further investigation I am not sure if he ever got it to work. Tips? | Answer |
| 2010-07-23 14:46 John Mundy | MPG2 - Pendant: Update, on the flyout (tab) with MPG selected I can make the dros for x,y & z move either direction as it seems it should be. This is running the XML in the brains folder. This works regardless if brains are enabled or not. However the motors wont spin yet. Seems like they should. I really havent looked thru the xml enough to see if the 4th axis is enabled. It also seems to have different motor settings than my previous xml for my sherline, should I change the axis pins to the prior ones leaving the rest of the settings alone? | Answer |
| 2010-07-27 09:59 john Mundy | MPG2 - Pendant: Arturo, I have everything working as it should, except the step resolution. I have the MPG selected on the flyout. I have the settings on the "general config" page matching the pictures in your guide(pos 1=.01, .1 & 1. I also have the Mpg1 selected in ports and pins counts at 4.000 & velocity 170. I dont seem to get any change in the size of the step regardless of where the dial is set. I have tried every mode, single step, multi step, velocity only, step/velocity. None seem to have any effect and of course I am holding the enable button while making any and all changes. Is there something I am missing? A hotkey or something similar? Anyway thanks in advance. | 2010-08-16 17:21 John | C11 - Multifunction CNC Board: Arturo, I'm using the C11 with Keling KL4030 stepper drivers, and it seems there are two wiring schemes for the control signals. One is to set jumper so COM terminals are grounded, and wire DIR- and PUL- to the COM. Then DIR+ and PUL+ go to the appropriate output terminal of the C11. The second is to set jumper so COM terminals are at +5Vdc, and wire DIR+ and PUL+ to the COM. This second method is indicated by Keling documents. Will either method work? (i.e. will the buffer amplifiers depicted in Figure 1 of the C11 Rev 9.3 manual, sink and source the required current for either scheme?) Is one method preferred over the other, and why? Thanks, John | Answer |
